If you could get a buck for every music-biz manager who says he's representing the next Celine Dion, you might end up as rich as the Charlemagne chanteuse herself. Steven Nowack is one of the self-assured salesmen using that very line - but doors have opened to him instead of slamming in his face. Armed only with tapes of his powerhouse-piped protegee Naomi Striemer, Nowack managed to convince the likes of Carlos Santana, multiplatinum producer Narada Michael Walden and Cavalia composer Michel Cusson that Striemer, 24, is the real deal. Naomi Striemer's indie S debut topped charts in her native Canada in December, thanks to a free msn.ca.com download of poetic single "Cars." The song sketches an allegory of counting passing vehicles in the search for unremitting love, featuring a solo from Carlos Santana. more
